You're about to embark on one of the biggest decisions yet for your child's education - which secondary school to choose. Salisbury and the surrounding area has a abundance of secondary schools to choose from and our advice is that you must make the decision based on which school feels best for your child.
That school may very well be our school. We currently have 575 pupils on roll and as a relatively small secondary school we provide a strong family and community feel where an ethos of respect and caring pervades all we do. One of our mantras is 'Do your Best and Mind your Manners'; we want all the children in our care to not only fulfil and exceed their academic potential but also to become well rounded, polite young adults of whom we are all proud both during the time they are with us and when they leave the school doors for the final time.
Traditionally, during the summer term in year 5, your child would have had the opportunity to visit a number of secondary schools on taster days to experience each school's offering. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, those taster days did not take place last year and as such, your child has probably not visited many of the schools in the area.
There is no need to panic. We have set up this dedicated webpage to enable you and your child to get a feel for our school, what our ethos is and also what we offer. You will hear from the headteacher and the different teachers and departments around school to discover what we offer. You'll also hear from our pupils too on their perspectives of our school!
We are also offering out of hours tours with a member of the Senior Leadership Team for year 6 families. If you would like to book a tour, please contact email@example.com
We hope that you find the information valuable and that our family feel and respectful and caring ethos is evident in what you see and hear.
Welcome to our school, we hope to welcome you to our family in September.
"I wanted to write and personally thank you for making the move from St Osmunds to St Joseph's such a positive experience for xxxx. All of the great support offered in your transition programme has been invaluable and has provided great reassurance, enabling us to feel as prepared as possible for the move.
The way xxxx has settled in so confidently and happily is testament to you and the school and I really can’t thank you enough.
xxxx feels very proud to be part of St Josephs and is optimistic and confident to work hard at school.
Thank you so much!"
"Thanks so much.., we’re really pleased with xxxx progress in year 7. St. Joseph’s is a lovely school and we’re very happy to be part of its community"
"I just thought it would be nice to send a message to say how absolutely over the moon I am with xxxx’s start.
Today especially I was on the verge of tears when he was telling me how much he’s been enjoying PE and actually everything else in general! I can’t explain what a big deal that is! Thank you!"
"Can I thank you and all your team at St Joseph’s for all the hard work and support you have given to xxxx throughout the years. Thanks to the stability and support that xxxx has been given through school, he is heading to college a mature, responsible and very caring young man!"
"We wanted to thank you and all the staff at St. Joseph’s for the fantastic results that xxxx achieved in his GCSEs. We are very pleased that xxxx did so well academically. Of course, St. Joseph’s has not just been about academic studies for xxxx – it has been about so much more than that.
"We will always appreciate the school’s support for his extra-curricular music, all the way through from Y7 toY11, with Pupil Premium for not just one but two instruments. He is now off to Andover College to study Music and Stage Management."
"xxxx has really blossomed whilst at St. Joseph’s. The school has given xxxx numerous opportunities to grow and fulfil his potential. There have been several clubs and activities that he has engaged with as well as many trips that he has benefited from. The final year as Head Boy was a fantastic opportunity for him: he has matured and become a fine young man; we are extremely proud of him. We could not have asked for a better school for xxxx".
"We wanted to express our thanks to you and all the staff at St. Joseph’s for the amazing results that xxxx achieved."
"We believe that it’s always been a joint effort between us at home and school and we have been so fortunate in that we have had such a constructive relationship with xxxx's teachers at St. Joseph’s. When we look back at xxxx’s FFT predicted grades in Year 9 and see what she actually achieved, we can see that together with St. Joseph’s we were able to get xxxx to exceed her predicted grades - in every single subject."
"Other aspects of xxxx’s time at St. Joseph’s are also really important. She was often supported in her social interactions and we are very grateful for that. In addition, she had many opportunities to take part in experiences that would promote her self-esteem. She was always keen to go on trips and she went on as many as possible!"
