St Joseph’s School is proud to announce a significant rise in academic achievement among its pupils, following the release of this year’s GCSE results.
The cohort has demonstrated exceptional resilience and commitment, with many pupils surpassing their target grades, some in the face of considerable personal challenges.
This year’s outcomes reflect the school’s evolving academic culture, which places high expectations, targeted support, and continuous improvement at its core. On average, pupils achieved 0.5 of a grade higher across all subjects compared to last year, driven by a 12% increase in Grade 9–4 passes. Notable subject performances include Maths (74.3%), English (76.3%), and Religious Education (77.5%).
Pupils also excelled in creative subjects such as Engineering, Food and Nutrition, Creative Media, and Music, underscoring the school’s commitment to offering a broad and enriching curriculum.

Headmaster Matthew Higgins commented:
“We are immensely proud of our pupils, not only for their academic success but for the determination and character they have shown throughout their time at St Joseph’s. These results are the highest we’ve seen in the past three years and are a testament to their hard work and the unwavering support of our dedicated staff. Particular recognition must go to Tarana B, Fiona J, Emelia P, Zariya A, and Max R for achieving outstanding GCSE results, all averaging above a grade 7. The atmosphere today is one of genuine celebration, as our pupils embrace the joy of accomplishment and look ahead to the next steps in their educational journey. These results will enable St Joseph’s pupils to progress confidently to their first-choice post-16 destinations.”
St Joseph’s extends heartfelt thanks to pupils, their family, wider community and staff, whose tireless efforts continue to shape a thriving, positive, and high-performing school.
