Head Teacher Appointment

Following on from the letter from our Chair of Governors yesterday, we are delighted to have appointed Mr Higgins as our new Head Teacher from September!  He brings a wealth of experience, passion and enthusiasm and will be an excellent leader of our school.  We are all very much looking forward to welcoming Mr Higgins to school formally and working with him to continue to drive improvements St Joseph’s to ensure our students have the best experiences and outcomes!

Pride Group of the Year

Last Thursday evening, Mrs Barratt, Miss Clark and Mrs Griffiths took a group of students to the Just Like Us Awards ceremony in London.  We are thrilled to announce that our Inclusivity Alliance won Pride Group of the Year at the National Awards!  This is a fantastic achievement for the staff and students involved and is the richly deserved recognition of over two years of hard work! Well done!

Enrichment

This week has been phenomenal with staff running many trips and experiences to enrich the students’ education and also to allow them to share their passions!  We’ve had trips to the Science museums in London and Winchester, we’ve had staff run a varied and engaging programme of enrichment including sports, inflatable obstacle courses, art workshops, games and puzzles, French experiences, pond dipping, local walks, pottery workshops, lego just to name a few!  It’s always an absolute pleasure to see the smiles on staff and students faces as they build relationships sharing their passions!

Race for Life

This afternoon, we hosted our Race for Life.  This is always a really enjoyable experience for the children and this year’s race didn’t disappoint with all the usual obstacles and fun to be had along the route!  Aside from racing, students also raised money and created Race for Life wall with messages and notes publicising who they were racing for.  Huge thank you to Mrs Goulding and the PE department for organising this excellent event!

Reports & Set Changes

Due to staff absence, the reports and set change letters will be released later than we had planned for. The reports will include information on the progress of your child across the year in their subjects. It will also include their end of year exam results.

As is our policy, we review settings at the end of the academic year to ensure that the children are in the appropriate teaching groups for them to receive the challenge and support that they need.  If your child’s sets are changing a letter will accompany the report.
