ADMISSIONS
Welcome to St Joseph’s Catholic School. We are a mixed comprehensive, 11–16 secondary school in Salisbury.
On this page, you will find information relating to our admissions process. This will mean either that your child is moving from Year 6 to Year 7, or that they are moving secondary schools during the school year.
Admissions Policy – under consultation
The Governing Body of St Joseph’s Catholic School is consulting on its proposed admission arrangements for September 2026. Please click here to see the draft policy; the only change being that we intend on decreasing our PAN from 125 to 120 for pupils admitted to Year 7 in the school year which begins in September 2026 (please see P2).
The consultation starts on Wednesday 4th December 2024 and ends on Wednesday 29th January 2025. Please send any comments via email to admin@sjcs.org.uk.
APPLYING FOR A PLACE IF YOUR CHILD IS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
Applications open 1st September and close 31st October 2024
Please click the following link for application timelines: Wiltshire Council Timeline for Applications
When making an application for a place at St Joseph's, please refer to the Admissions Policy relating to the school academic year of entry for further details.
Whilst children who are baptised Catholic will always be given priority for admission, we do still offer places to students who are not Catholic or from a religious background. We therefore welcome applications from those of any faith or none.

Step 2
Complete the schools Supplementary Information Form which can be found on our school website or alternatively you can collect a copy from our school. This gives us information relating to the categories set out in the Admissions Policy.

The minute I stepped through the doors in September, the fear began to go and it was at that point I knew I had made the right choice of secondary school for me.
I knew St Joseph’s Catholic School was the school for me because the atmosphere of the place is altogether fantastic and I love it! I could not imagine a better place to learn.
I personally chose St Joseph’s because I had heard great comments about it and it had an outstanding Ofsted report. I’ve really been encouraged to work hard, and everyone has really helped me out to settle in quickly.
MID-YEAR TRANSFER
If you are considering an in-year admission, please contact Mrs Hodge in the first instance (contact details provided below), who will be able to guide you through the admissions process.
All applicants will be considered in line with our determined Admissions Policy. Where the School has no spaces available, because the admission of another child would prejudice the efficient education of others at the School or would prejudice the efficient use of resources, the application will be refused and a right of appeal will arise.
Please note that schools we are unlikely to be able to respond to applications during school holidays. If you are waiting for an outcome, you may need to wait until the school returns.
If you would like to request for an appeal against non-admission for in-year transfers, please complete and return this form within 20 days of the date on the refusal letter.
I am really glad I chose St Joseph’s Catholic School because it feels like a family.
