Raising Funds for St Joseph’s Pupils in Education and Play
FOSJ are a small group of volunteers who organise events to raise money to buy items requested by pupils and staff which the school could otherwise not afford.
In the last few years we have spent:
- £440 on 2 football strips so our 2 teams no longer have to borrow from local clubs, enabling the pupils to feel proud to represent St Joseph’s in their school colours.
- £2,000 towards a new bicycle shelter, meaning more pupils and staff can cycle to school and leave their bicycles in a safe, dry area.
- £270 for a science magnet used for specific science experiments.
- £280 on a fridge freezer so the Food Tech students have more space to keep their ingredients and finished products fresh.
- £195 on 5 midi USB-charged keyboards which are being used to help the GCSE music students with their studies.
- £100 towards football tops for staff/old pupils to wear in our new yearly event of a football match played by staff/old pupil’s and the current Year 11 pupils.
- We have paid for ice pops for pupils on sports day during our very hot summer.
In order to fund these items, we rely on the school community, friends and family supporting our events (e.g. bingo, quizzes, horse racing, lucky square game, jumble sales, raffles, refreshments for before/after school events).
We are also able to offer second hand uniform for a small donation. This has been donated by parents whose child has left or has outgrown theirs, so it is all in great condition.
FOSJ committee thank pupils, parents and staff for being involved with raising funds for the benefit of the St Joseph’s School community.
We are always looking for more people to volunteer (as much or as little time you can spare) as this would help with fresh new ideas, and it is a fantastic way to meet others who are interested in helping raise vital funds to enhance the school.
If you would like to be involved in any capacity, please contact Miss Pearson via spe@sjcs.org.uk.
ST JOSEPH'S GIFT AID APPEAL
We would also like to use this opportunity to share our St Joseph’s Gift Aid scheme. This was launched in 2003 and has raised well over £1 million to sustain the improvement in education facilities in St Joseph’s.
The Clifton Diocese has helped us with a number of building condition issues. However, as a faith school, we have to fund 10% of any capital projects. As the number of pupils continues to increase each year, there are many capital projects to be addressed in the near future to enable us to provide first class facilities to support their curriculum needs. The latest example is our wonderful new technology building.
However, we still need to maintain the facilities in our existing building, and the latest example of this is the refurbishment of the pupil toilets and changing rooms which parental contributions helped to fund. This year we have successfully been approved for several grants including the installation of a perimeter fence which required a significant contribution from the school.
Please could you consider making a regular monthly, quarterly or annual gift to the school?
The average monthly sum at present is around £10, but we fully recognise that this may be difficult to afford for some parents, while others may wish to give more – but every donation is valuable to us, no matter how small.
If you have online banking, please set up your standing order using the bank details found on the form below, and complete the Gift Aid Declaration form and return to the School Business Manager, Mrs Voce, via pupil post. Details can also be found on below, and printed copies are available on request from reception.
All charitable giving is now covered by Gift Aid – so if you are a UK tax payer and sign the Gift Aid Declaration, we can claim the tax on any future donation which you may make to St Joseph’s, whether large or small, regular or one off.
We cannot over emphasise the importance of the Gift Aid Scheme to St Joseph’s – your support is absolutely essential if we are to continue to improve what we can offer to your child.
May we take this opportunity to thank all parents who currently donate to the Gift Aid Scheme – your vital contributions are much appreciated.
