One more week to go until we break for Christmas – although so much has happened in the last 4 months, it does only feel like yesterday that we were welcoming everyone back in September!
The Final Day
As is tradition, we will be finishing earlier than usual at 12:15 on Friday. Please note, we have been informed by Salisbury Reds that the only buses they will be providing on Friday 17th are the town buses (663). Pupils will then have to get buses to final destinations from town.
We will be having Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save the Children on Friday 17th December. Please do make any donations via the School Gateway app. Year 11 prefects will also be popping into forms on the Friday to take any physical donations so that all pupils have a chance to contribute.
The final day will also be treated to our Christmas liturgy (our modern day take on the nativity), awards and celebrations as well as the annual quiz and Christmas Raffle complete with Head Teacher awards. It promises to be a day full of celebration and a great way to draw 2021 to a close.
Year 9 Graduation – Weds 15th December
The Year 9 Graduation is shaping up to be a fantastic celebration for all of our Year 9 pupils. All pupils will be presented with a graduation certificate and subject areas have nominated Award Winners and Highly Commended.
In addition, there will be performances and the pupil led ‘Teacher Awards’!
Year 9 – remember to return the reply slip confirming your attendance and how you are getting home. If there is no slip, you won’t be able to stay!
Virtual Christmas Service
The Virtual Christmas Service will be distributed to families next week and is a real celebration of the talented individuals that we have in school. It’s not the same as us all gathering in the school hall, but we hope that it will help you get into the Christmas spirit and also bring to the forefront of your minds the reason for the season.
Year 7 House Parties
Next Wednesday will also see the postponed Year 7 House Parties taking place – these are scheduled for PHSE lesson on Friday and promise to be an excellent occasion to recognise and celebrate what has been an excellent start to life at St Joseph’s for our current Year 7 pupils.
History Exhibition
This week we held our annual Yr7 History Creative Homework Exhibition – there were some absolutely fabulous medieval creations with two prizes being awarded: the pupils’ choice and also the teachers’ choice. Over on our Twitter feed (@sjcssalisbury) you’ll see some pictures of the excellent creativity of our Year 7 pupils.
Trussell Trust Donations
This week has seen a really big push on donations and the trolley is overflowing with items for the Trussell Trust! Many thanks for your generous donations – they will certainly help to put a smile on many faces this Christmas time and will make a real difference. Next week, members of our Chaplaincy Team will be delivering the products in person to the Trussell Trust.
Reports & Set Changes
Next week will also see the distribution of progress reports and set change letters for all year groups.
Salisbury Walk-In Centre
We’d like to promote the use of Salisbury Walk in Centre especially for minor illnesses. Salisbury District Hospital is extremely busy yet we all still need to access healthcare timely and close to home! It’s that important, the NHS have introduced additional resources into Salisbury Walk in Centre to enable us to increase their capacity even further from 4th January – please see the attached flyer for further information.
