Anti-bullying ambassadors

Miss Moss and Mrs Inglis accompanied a number of our anti-bullying ambassadors on a day’s workshop at Bay House School in Gosport.  Over 120 students from across the South attended the safeguarding event to help train and support young learners.  As part of The Diana Award’s Anti-Bullying Programme, students from across the South Coast, including from Reading, Salisbury and Camberley, joined together to challenge bullying and initiate positive change in their schools. The students will be delivering training to their peers following the training and will work with the safeguarding team to decide next steps.

Industrial Action Day

It was a very different day in school on Wednesday.  We welcomed Year 11 to school for a day where they were the main focus, and they acquitted themselves admirably.  Year 11 followed their normal timetable and where staff were not present, they were able to engage in online activities.  There was a productive buzz in the air, and we can certainly see the motivation the year group has in the all-important lead up to the final GCSE exams in May.  As recognition of their maturity and conscientiousness on Wednesday and the manner in which they have tackled their mock exams they were rewarded with a non-uniform day today.

UK Maths Challenge

On Thursday, a number of our pupils participated in the UK Maths Challenge!  They pitted their mathematical minds against some very challenging maths questions and will find out in a few weeks how they have performed.  No doubt, as with every year, there’ll be many certificates awarded to our pupils!  Well done to all who took part.

Table Tennis Tournament

Tuesday saw the return of us hosting the Salisbury Schools Table Tennis Tournament with two spaces at the regional finals up for grabs.  It was the first time in 3 years that the event has happened, and it was fabulous to be able to host a brilliant a tight competitive contest.  We narrowly missed out a place in the regional finals and our players can hold their heads high having given an excellent account of themselves!

Battlefields Trip

On Tuesday evening we hosted the Battlefields Trip Information Evening.  It was lovely to welcome the families into the hall and run through the important details for the trip.  Next week we’ll be gathering the children together to sort out rooming and also share the timed itinerary so that everyone is aware of what the plan is.  As ever, it’s going to be a fabulous trip packed full of visits and activities and promises to be very enlightening for all involved.  The early start is the only thing we’re not looking forward to!  4:45am on a Sunday morning isn’t everyone’s cup of tea!

Year 11

Year 11 are now entering the final stretch of their GCSE marathon.  Mock results are being given back as and when teachers have marked the papers and I’m glad to report that the vast majority of pupils have improved on their September mocks! Next week on Thursday evening, we will be hosting a virtual Year 11 evening to explain mock results and the intervention programme for the final 10 school weeks before the official final exam window opens.

The evening will be held online at 6pm and a link will be shared next week along with further details.

Parents will also be receiving a mock exam results sheet with target grade, September mock grade and January mock grade information.
