Happiest Minute of the Week: 27th February–3rd March 2023

Published March 3, 2023

Every week, our staff send in their submissions for the Happiest Minute of the Week. These can be anything from a whole class behaving well, to the small and kind gestures that make someone’s day!

All of these Happiest Minutes are then presented to the whole school every Friday by Mr Bartel and Mr Ford (or pupils who volunteer to host!) in the weekly rewards raffle.

As part of our ethos here at St Joseph’s, we love to share kindness, gratitude and positivity. So without further ado, here are this week’s nominations for Happiest Minute of the Week!

Happiest Minutes of the Week

Miss Clark:

  • All the people who spend their break times reading in the library – it’s lovely to see so many of you! (Reminder to everyone else that the library is open every break time. Anyone can come and borrow a book or use the time to do some quiet reading!)

Mr Sibley:

  • My Year 10 food class for their great pasta making lesson.

Mrs Nobis:

  • LW (11T) for being kind and helpful to a teacher and to a younger student that needed support.

Mr Brown:

  • Year 11 footy team for their spirited ‘draw’ with a Wyvern team that we had previously lost heavily to in recent years! Every single player was brilliant and gave everything. Well done, gents.

Mr Ball:

  • KR (9M) for untangling the badminton net left in a mess by a previous group.

Mr Corson:

  • Watching the amazing work done by RB (7T), NM, MM (7M) and MW (7F) in creating tension and believable drama for their scene from The Terrible Fate of Humpty Dumpty. What talented and diligent young actors!

Mr Ford:

  • Year 11 Boys football team for the truly brilliant shift they put in vs Wyvern this week. Great effort and a fantastic representation of SJCS.
  • Special mention for AC (11T) for who was sublime in goal and saved Cam Hillier’s (11V) blushes by making a lightning reaction save to prevent an own goal, what a good friend.

Mr Valjak:

  • Caretaker Mr Rob – watching and learning from the man himself how to replace a ceiling tile in the hall with his self-made pole-ceiling-fitting-device! #ceilingtilelegend
  • KK (10M) for his consistently positive attitude to learning in RE and an exercise book to be proud of.

Mrs Rose:

  • My happiest moment of this week by far was eating Mr Ford’s Sparkly 💖 Rainbow 🌈 Unicorn 🦄 Cupcakes 🍥 – these were outstanding and full of happiness. Thank you 🙂

Mrs O’Grady:

  • OB (7F) for doing his best with the writing aspect of his MRI poster, copying each of his paragraphs with great care and attention to detail. Very well done!
  • OD (7M) and OY (7V) for their brilliant catch-up efforts on the MRI poster, despite not having been in class when the rest of the class started the task.  Excellent work and attention to detail – well done!
  • AMS, SH (11V) and AP (11M) for their outstanding attitude and consistent effort in science lessons.

Mrs Hansford:

  • RA (10V) and MM (10M) for being funny in the French cover lesson – RA in particular had great dancing.
  • EO and VG (10V) for working really hard in English today.
  • BC (9F) and KS (9V) for working hard in English today despite some disruptive students around them!

MFL Department:

  • Our MFL Learning Legends this week are KM (7V) for great vocabulary recall, SR (11F) for getting 15/16 on a 90-words writing task, and LC (9F) and TL (9M) for their great 90-word tasks on healthy living.

Well done everyone – see you next week!
